Agadir is a great base, and the region around it is varied: mountains, palm-lined gorges, surf beaches and old walled towns, all within a few hours. These are the trips our customers come back talking about, with realistic timings and the car we would choose for each.

Paradise Valley
A palm-lined gorge in the foothills of the High Atlas, with natural rock pools you can swim in. The road leaves the coast north of Agadir and climbs into the hills on a winding but paved road. Go early in the morning: it gets busy from late morning, and the light in the gorge is best before noon. Wear shoes you can walk in, as the path to the pools is rocky.
Taghazout and Tamraght
Just north of Agadir, these two villages are the surf capital of the region. Even if you do not surf, the cafés on the cliffs and the long beaches make a relaxed half day. Parking is limited in the village centres, so use the car parks on the edge and walk down.
Crocoparc
A botanical garden and crocodile park on the road east of Agadir, an easy outing with children. It has its own car park and takes around two to three hours to visit.
Souk El Had
Agadir’s huge covered market, with thousands of stalls selling spices, fruit, argan products, leather and household goods. Park nearby and walk in; it is easy to spend a whole morning there.
Tiznit and Aglou Beach
The walled town of Tiznit, famous for its silver jewellery, and the long Atlantic beach of Aglou nearby. Our full guide covers the route and what to see: Tiznit and Aglou Beach by car.
Essaouira
The longest trip on this list, but one of the most rewarding. The coastal road north passes Taghazout and argan country before reaching the blue-and-white medina of Essaouira. We recommend staying overnight. Everything you need is in our Agadir to Essaouira road trip guide.
Which car for day trips?
- Mostly coast and town: an economical car such as the Dacia Logan or Renault Clio 5, from 300 DH (30€) per day.
- Mountain roads like Paradise Valley: the Dacia Sandero Stepway, higher and comfortable on bends.
- Long days, families, or if you prefer an automatic: the Volkswagen T-Roc or Skoda Octavia.
